 Summer Internships for High School Students

Jan 30, 2009 Summer Internship Opportunity: Emma L. Bowen Foundation Great opportunity for minority students who are interested in media related careers. To qualify students must be an Ethnic Minority and have a 3.0 GPA.  In addition to learning about the media career field, students are paid and earn scholarships.  Go here to apply. We have been told that Wichita has been added as a possible internship site.
Feb 2009 Summer Internship Opportunity: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Internship for high school students who are at least 16 years old.  Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA.  The work will be in Kansas City, Kansas and the pay will be between $9.00 and $16.00 per hour.  For more information go here.

Spring, 2009? Summer Internship Opportunities: Cerner Technical Internship for high school students Cerner is offering an internship program for high school students.  Students must have a 3.0 GPA and an interest in computer programming and information technology.  To apply go here.
May, 2009? Training Program: Making it in KC This 16-week training program is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor to prepare students for a career in manufacturing.  Students will earn 12 hours of MCC credit and a 10 hour OSHA Card.  Classes start on May 5th.  Call 816-482-5200 for more information
None specified KCK Youth Arts Initiative This is a 13-week fellowship art program for junior and senior high school students.  Students will learn from professional artists.  Send an e-mail to Kendra@churcharts.org for more information and an application.
On-going Year Up Internship This is a one year internship for students between the ages of 18 and 24.  Students earn $250 per week and earn college credit while interning at Fortune 500 companies.  Go here for more information.
